Some Days Are Just Made For A Day Off…

March 2012

I’ll be taking the day off from training today.  It’s going to be cold and miserable all day long before turning around tonight, ending the week out with sunny skies and fair temperatures.  Tomorrow and Sunday are going to be fun though.  25 miles on the bike and a 5 mile run tomorrow and another 18 miles on Sunday (I’d do the 35.5 but I’ve got league bowling Sunday evening and I don’t want to suck).

I’ll probably take some time and tinker with my bike a little bit just for fun, to see if I can’t get everything dialed in to where I like it.  I’ll post more on that later.  In the meantime, I’ve got a busy day today with work…  And I’m working on a massively funny post for tomorrow or Sunday, depending on when I can get to everything on it.

sounds like a good day–and a better weekend. but they say recovery days are just as important as training days–so enjoy!

So I’ve heard… I dunno, sounds like a bunch of hooey to me. Days off, sheesh, in my grandpappy’s day, why they rode 25 miles a day through the snow, on steel wheels (uphill both ways, of course) and they liked it! Me and my carbon bike with rubber tires on aluminum alloy rims…need a day off? Ha.

Just wait and see how refreshed your legs, lungs and mind will be tomorrow. I used to think rest days were hooey too. Now I crave them. When tri season starts I will have to give it up for a swim day, so I cherish the time now. Enjoy!

There’s no doubt, at least for the legs – and the rest day is coming right before a big Saturday and Sunday so that works out great… I always love the zip in my pace after a day off, but my mind, it’s on the road right now. Fortunately, absence does make the heart grow fonder… I want my 80 degrees back too…

I was, however, making a funny with the hooey comment. That was not meant to be taken seriously.

  3. Enjoy the day off! We all need them once in a while 🙂

  4. Believe it or not…even awesome needs a day off.
