It’s Official – 1st Place in Michigan for September

My first place finish was less about me putting in my best month ever, because September was only my second best month ever with a total of 676 miles for the month.  It had more to do with others cutting back.  In August I finished with 684 miles and that was only good enough for 11th place in Michigan – either way, first is first and I’ll take it.  Nationwide the same held true.  Of the more than 30,000 riders taking part, I finished 137th (top 0.00456%) for September.  In August my 684 mile month was only good for 630th place.  However you slice it though, there’s not a whole lot of traffic on that extra mile and I put mine in.  I’ve got one more Century this coming weekend before I start ratcheting back my miles for the winter…  That’ll mean fewer trips to the fast food joints, no more candy and other treats, and some spinning in front of the big screen.  On the good side of that, it’ll also mean more time on the mountain bike.  It’s been a great year on the road, but I’m looking forward to a little trail time before the snow flies – followed by a great Thanksgiving weekend up north at the in-law’s house and some good ole dirt road riding. No rest for the wicked.
