You Know It’s A Fad When…

April 2013

How to know you’ve bumped into a fad:

Gluten-free dog treats.

This isn’t meant to be snarky – I’ve read estimates reaching all the way up to one percent of the whole population actually has to worry about gluten in their food. That averages out to 600,000 people per State in the US.

But gluten-free dog treats? Gimme a break.

*Sarcasm alert!* Can you let me know if you see the Paleo Diet for pups? My Basset really wants to clean up his diet. He’s even considering NOT eating other dog’s poo. He’s super dedicated!

When I laugh I go into bad coughing fits. It was worth it though!

Hey even dogs wanna be healthy … maybe they will have their own sporting event.. LoL

I was in trader joe’s a couple days ago and “gluten free” was all the buzz. Old women talking about how something wasn’t “healthy” b/c it has gluten in to TJ’s having a sheet available for every product they sell that is sans gluten. I went about 25 years of my life without ever hearing the word gluten, so I’m curious how everyone got along for that quarter of a century.

Actually those who have Celiac Disease are very sensitive to even the smallest amount of gluten (that’s the 1%). The rest is just the vegans playing with a new toy to hate. 😉

  5. Mariajose says:

So… I read this and laughed out loud for a while. I even texted my boyfriend so he could laugh with me. and then he reminded me that his cousin’s dog actually is in some weird gluten free diet. she’s had the dog for about 8 years and he’s been in that for about 7. Apparently he stinks up the house if he goes off his regular food. It’s pretty weird. This is still funny though. 😀

Thank you, I have no doubt that there is the rare dog that has an allergy to certain food, the idea of the post was more to make fun of the recent fad surrounding gluten free living. Only 1% of humans require a gluten free life. I just saw the dog food commercial and it struck my funny bone.
