How to spend the last few days recovering from a cold or the flu:

I rode my bike to get here, of course. 18 miles of 90 degree misery – and almost the whole ride was into a 15 mph wind. Never been so happy to see a 17 mph average. On the bright side, my wife brought the minivan so I’m hopping a ride home.

For dinner this evening: Salmon, my famous grilled asparagus, and a nice salad. I’m going to sleep well tonight.

  1. I’m glad to see I’m not the only one that isn’t too fond of a 15mph headwind. I was starting to think it was age – or worse, I was turning into a sissy!

No sir… According to the old bike calculator that’s an average of 344 watts @ 16 mph (on the hoods). I had two miles with a cross wind and one with a tailwind which helped me to get that up to 17. For an amateur that isn’t too shabby. Throw in a little weakness for recovering from my cold and I’m happy enough with it.

Good call. Looks recuperative to me!
