Sunday was the nicest, best, most spectacularly awesome day in at least seven months for a bike ride. Perfectly sunny, only mildly breezy and 79 marvelous degrees.
Even my In-Laws went with..
.
After four or five miles the in-laws took the kids back and out to lunch and Mrs. Bgddy and I kept going.
I found an off-shoot trail and called for a quick recon adventure:
We stopped to check out the aquatic wildlife after turning around to head back:
The Pere-Marquette Rail Trail is one of Michigan’s best cycling assets… Especially the section that goes from Clare, West… Hardly any foot traffic and only sparsely populated by cyclists so you can ride as fast or slow as you like. Doesn’t get any better than that (unless you take the skinny tire bikes).
We were out for something like two hours though I have no idea how many miles we covered on the mountain bikes, to tell you the truth, I don’t quite care… Sunday was the perfect day.
I love rides like this!! So glad you got out and enjoyed such a perfect day 🙂
Thanks Kecia.
Looks fabulous! Happy to hear you describe this as the perfect day.
Thanks Sue… Speed and cycling with the boys has its place, but so does taking an easy stroll with the family. It’s all good.
Its funny because a lot of our brethren in the lycra brigade shun this type of riding. But for me that looks perfect and would love to ride with my missus or son on this route.
Let them shun brother… You and I will still be happily married, shockingly good looking for our age and fast while they’ll be fast and fair to miserable. I’m okay with that – and I know you are too.
We know the secret: it’s good to be us.
Duuuuuuuuuude that looks like an awesome ride … my kids would have loved it too. 🙂
It’s a very kid-friendly place to ride, no doubt about it.
