Am I really that old?

I decided it’s time to get some glasses or get my eyes lasered or something. A friend of Mrs. Bgddy’s works for one of the best eye doctors in the State (she’s quite famous actually) so my wife asked her what we should do about my eyesight before I started looking for a doctor. After a short conversation, reading glasses were recommended and she even sent a pair home with my wife for me to try out.  To say they helped would be an understatement of epic proportions.

Oh my God, what happened? When did that happen?

So here I am, a few hours from going to see Korn (one of my favorite bands), sitting on my couch typing this post, wearing reading glasses.

If that isn’t bad enough, and it is, at a meeting yesterday a young new kid called me sir (obviously a military background). Sir? That’s my dad! Oh wait, he died last year…

Just a few years ago I was a punk kid. Not long ago I was a young man, mid-30’s.  I’m not a kid any more.

Apparently having a bunch of tattoos isn’t the fountain of youth I thought it would be and rollerblading, running and cycling only puts off the feebleness of age… There’s no doubt I’m still exceptionally spry but still, my eyes just aren’t working like they used to…

I wrote everything before this sentence yesterday.

Mrs. Bgddy, because she’s the awesomest wife in the world – who knows some really cool people – got us some spectacular seats to the show because Korn is amongst my top three favorite bands (I’d put Stone Temple Pilots first and Korn second if I had to rank them).  I don’t know who is running the music industry around here but they’re doing a fantastic job of pulling in these top tier shows and we middle-aged headbangers are lucky beyond words for it – and I’m lucky for having such an awesome wife to set this whole thing up.

Korn was flat-out amazing.  The show was fantastic and we could tell they’ve been putting in the time to get this tour right.  They were tight.

It wasn’t till the encore that Jonathan Davis, the lead singer, really blew my mind…  The encore song was from their first album (CD), he announced that the album turns 20 years-old in eight days.

Ah, how time flies.  Could be worse, at least I’m having fun getting older.  It is what it is.
