  1. You know I looked at these things . .. but I have to tell you that last year I put new super knobbies on an old mountain bike I have so I could ride in the snow and it turned out to be an exercise in futility. The knobbies were nearly worthless once the snow plows came by and riding on sidewalks or the road shoulder wasn’t enough of an option to make the 14 mile trip to work worthwhile. I think the only realistic possibility for most snow/ice conditions is studded tires. Just my opinion – I’d be interested in what experiences others have had.

The All Seasons Cyclist is the ultimate authority but if I remember correctly from his posts, he rode on studded tires. He also LOVED his fat bike in the snow.

I’ve heard nothing but good things about them. I test-rode one last week and it was quite the awesome experience… I’d love to get one on the trails to see what that’s like.
