The Plan at Fit Recovery for 2015…
2015 is going to be an interesting year. I’m starting up a new company that is starting out well, it’s a bit of a local hit already. Where that’s going to go, I have no idea but it should be fun.
As for this blog, I’ve asked Mrs. Bgddy to write a couple of posts so I’m exploring the idea of maybe that can grow into something along the lines of the husband and wife team of Jesse and Taylor at Single-tracked Mind… We’ve actually talked about this before and I poo-poo’d the idea but the truth is, I (and we) are in a much better place than when we last spoke about this. We’ll see.
As far for recovery, the goal is obviously celebrating my 23rd consecutive year of sobriety in November again but that’s a one-day-at-a-time thing. I will continue writing posts on the topic as the mood and/or circumstance strikes.

Fitness, now this one’s interesting… There’s no doubt I’m going to keep cycling, that goes without saying, but the question becomes “do I continue to refrain from tracking my rides or do I start tracking again? Now, I’ve got three bikes, my Venge, the 5200 and my Stumpjumper… I’ve got a computer on the Venge with an odometer (installed 9/5/14): 1,153. I rode the 5200 for most of my miles through November and December though. I also know I was quite a bit above ’13’s mileage before that so I’m guessing north of 6,000 miles for the year but I really don’t know for sure. The question is does that really matter anyway?
The truth is, I just don’t know. I made a decision last January to go without tracking a mile on Endomondo for the year. I am living proof that a mile not tracked is still a mile ridden, like 6,000 times over. On the other hand, the grass just might be greener – I miss my stats, my trips around the Earth, my trip to the moon, my half-million calories burned, my graphs… On one hand, I liked not being tied to the app. On the other, I’m tied to my phone anyway for work so I might as well be tied to the app. Either way, I’m going to have to make a decision pretty quick. I’m going to be doing my first spin session of the year in about an hour.
Then there’s the gym. I haven’t signed up yet but the year is young.
Overall, with the exception of my father dying, a rinse and repeat of last year would be welcome indeed. Overall, it was the happiest, most enjoyable year I could hope for. I’ll take another one of those without question.
We’ll see how it shakes out but one thing is certain… After spending half of my life getting the most out of life with the least amount of effort, I know that doesn’t work. I can’t have the joy without the work.
