When I got sober back in 2009, I trained for a couple half marathons and did my first century ride. It was so much fun! I felt alive and even though I’m at 32 days I never stopped finding new fitness goals. I play tennis on a ladies team at the club and train with. Trainer 3/week. I’m going to climb Half Dome this year too! I love your blog and all the healthy inspirations it has! Thank you!

Cycling or walking which is better for weight loss? I’m not obese by any means nor am I in any position to start long distance running, but I walk 2-3 miles a day just curious.
Depends on the speed. My slow days average around 17.5 mph which is fast by many standards… Fast days are between 20 & 22 though. If you’re talking about riding slow, 10-12 mph, it’s a toss-up. On the other hand, when you look at one hour of my fast days, studies show that you’d have to walk about 50 hours to equal what I do – unless you’re talking about walking better than ten minutes a mile, at which point you start catching up.
I live in Michigan also got over eight hours in on the bike between Sunday and Monday and loved every minute of it. I burned over 4000 calories having fun enjoying the sights and sounds of an early spring. Can’t wait to do it all over again.
