President Obama’s Gun Control Usurpation of Power… Fear Not My Friends!

Trigger warning (heh):  This is a political post from the Conservative, reasonable perspective.  If you’re a rabid lefty, don’t read any further.  It’ll just piss you off because you need to follow the President’s advice and listen to Rush Limbaugh more often.  Writing ridiculous comments in an attempt insult or impress me with your mastery of DCCC talking points will not change my mind and if I don’t feel like bitch-slapping you with wit, I’ll just delete your dimwitted comment without a second thought.  This is the conclusion of this trigger (heh) warning… BEEEEEEEEEEEP.

I just realized something this morning… As the President announced yesterday that he was going to try to go around Congress and create some new rules that define who is a gun dealer with the hope that more people will have to register as firearms dealers to sell their pistol… First, see, they’re rules, not laws, because the President can’t make laws. Only Congress can. But I digress.

My friends, fear not.  We haven’t even had a chance to see what he’s trying to do but I know we won’t have to worry, not even a little bit.

Look at it this way, Iran got a bunch of rules they had to live by from the same guy in exchange for a shit-ton of money.  They’re ignoring every one of them and still getting paid… and they shot off missiles!

I’m sure our President will be just as passive with us.

Just duck and cover when the DHS knocks on your door.  Funny that.

Terrorist sponsoring regimes?  “Hey, we gotta give ’em a break ’cause how we treated them in the past is just not who we are”.

Import immigrant terrorists from Syria?  “Hey, we gotta do it!  We can’t stop them from coming here, ’cause that’s not who we are!  Besides, we have background checks for these people who have no background.  Trust us, we’re from the government and we are here to tell you who you are (and make damn sure you get the message)”

Law abiding citizen wants to buy a pistol, just like his father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather before him?  “NUKE ‘EM!  That may be who we are but, um… I just don’t like who we are.  Bitter clingers.  Besides, our background checks don’t work!”

Now I must take my leave and cling to my Smith & Wesson M&P 9(s) the second of which I didn’t have a background check for (!)*.  Speaking of, since President Obama was elected S&W stock is up something like 900%.  Keep talkin’ sparky.  I may be able to retire early at this rate.

Finally, all you need to know about gun control:

*Technically I did have a background check for the second one but I was for the background check before I was against it… it’s a long story.

** The chart above is the Homicide rate in the US, in “Homicides per 100,000”, the figure for 2012 is slightly over 4 per 100,000.

It’s all good as long as you’re okay with 33,000 gun deaths a year. Apparently you are.

    • bgddyjim says:

LOL! Media Muddles? Brother, you have to try a little harder than that. They couldn’t hit the truth with the explosion of one of Iran’s missles.

    • bgddyjim says:

I like the first comment on that post:

“Oh no, the dreaded excoriation from Trevor Noah.

      What will Fox do now?

      What a disaster for them.”

    • bgddyjim says:

Speaking of media muddles and not being able to hit the truth with a rocket, where do you get your stats from? There aren’t anywhere near 33,000 gun deaths a year in the US.

    • stevegreer1 says:

Media Matters is your source? Wow. Yeah, it is totally an unbiased source full of well-researched factual reports. And I also have this nice new bridge to sell you. So tell me this, does this Trevor Noah report state how many of those supposed 33,000 gun deaths were a result of guns purchased illegally or even stolen? Yeah, doubt it. Sorry, but even the most restrictive gun laws will do nothing to keep guns out of the hands of violent criminals.

      • bgddyjim says:

Amen Steve. Forgive Mr. Cudworth, he’s a fan of the “narrative”, no matter how made up and false it is. Otherwise, he’s a really good guy.

  2. Forgive me for I know not how reliable this source might be:

Just over a week into 2016 and those figures make a good cause for restrictions no?

I’m from the UK so I’m coming from a different society, and a different cultural standpoint on guns. But us Brits & Yanks are pretty similar people right?

I’m yet to see a decent argument FOR the right to carry guns. But then, things are different over here.

    Nice engaging content anyway!

    • bgddyjim says:

You’ve never heard a good argument for carrying a firearm?

Carrying a police officer is too heavy.

    • bgddyjim says:

Now that I’ve had a minute to peruse the GVA website, police action is used in that total so if all guns were “restricted”, the only incidents that would be stopped are the defensive deaths, 22 including one about 40 miles from my house. See, the mistake most people make is to assume that gun violence would stop if guns were restricted. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. In the end, what we get is two groups having firearms. The cops and the bad guys who don’t care about laws and “restrictions”. Put simply, our government is bound by a Constitution that refuses to allow it’s citizens to be sheep for the slaughter, as you have in the UK. Now, gun violence numbers may be lower over there but most of your police, if I’m not mistaken, don’t carry weapons either. Police action is included in the GVA numbers so they’re vastly skewed.

See, there’s this thing called a black market that ensures crooks will get their guns, no matter the rules, regulations and laws.

Also, if we look at “violent crime” and compare our two countries we find that the UK is vastly more violent that the United States. Vastly. Why are you guys so angry?

Finally, at the core of this whole discussion is the real reason we can keep guns (and carrying guns is really the issue here – it is illegal to carry a pistol unless you go through special training, testing, vetting by our FBI, and allow fingerprints to be stored on file with the FBI and local policing agency. Then we have to continue our training or the license is rescinded at its next renewal process. The trick is, crooks don’t care what the rules are so we, unlike you in the UK, have a process by which we can choose to defend ourselves. You guys, of some muck walks into a store and starts shooting, just get to die until the cops show up and yell at the bad people to stop… or they’ll yell stop again. That may be cool for you but it’s not me.

Finally, the US being one of the newer countries in the world, our founders were graced with watching the development of the rest of the world develop. All of the founders knew that for a State to truly be free from government overreach, the citizens themselves had to be armed. Originally this was done so that citizens could be a part of a well-run and regulated militia should the need arise. Also, and equally important, the founders knew that if the citizens were armed, enemies, both foreign and domestic, wouldn’t stand a chance of invading this country. Indeed, this is why Japan chose to bomb Pearl Harbor rather than invade the country.

Now, keep in mind here, and I’ll wrap this up. I have no dog in this hunt, as we say. As a businessman who deals with large sums of money, cash and checks totaling in the hundreds of thousands of dollars monthly, I will ALWAYS be able to get a license to carry a firearm. Still, I much prefer a country where those who would commit crime are worried about being killed for their act. Criminals thrive on the understanding of society.

Lastly, really, one must understand the nature of policing. Police are there to clean up the mess and find out who killed you, they rarely are present to stop someone killing you. I simply think that sucks. Remember, the definition of gun control: The idea that it’s better to find a woman raped and strangled to death with her own nylons than to find that same woman explaining to a police officer how her attacker got all of those holes.

    • bgddyjim says:

Oh, one more thing… you saw a decent argument for the right to carry a gun when you read this post initially. Homicide rates rise when gun laws are tightened in this country, over the last 100 years. If that isn’t a good argument, that less restriction means less murder, I don’t know what is.

  3. Archetype says:

Reblogged this on The Road to Revelation and commented:
No doubt, this is our National Socialist government at work AND I don’t like WHO we are (or have become) either. I have been truly disgusted and massively disappointed with America for the last 15 or so years ( I suppose it could be longer…if I was older)

I just know that we have veered so far off course from the days of the founding fathers. And that my grandfather, a WWII vet who was awarded two bronze stars and the purple heart would be as disgusted. For me, it’s not about “Left” or “Right” – as I think they have BOTH become progressive corporatist-fascist ideologies utilizing variants of National Socialism to trample our rights and liberties.
