I went to a meeting last night at the behest of my wife, a meeting I rarely attend, and the craziest thing happened…. A guy walked in, maybe ten minutes before the meeting’s start, and he sits down next to me. We start talking about his past and his grandfather, then about treatment. Over the course of ten minutes we got to talking about the benefits of sobriety, and really being able to enjoy them.
All of a sudden, I’m fired up about sobriety all over again. Talking with a younger member of recovery, who is just learning how to work with other, newer members, who is still fresh with the freedom and happiness of shedding the chains of addiction, well all I can say is, “it’s special and refreshing, indeed”.
Yesterday, my month-long celebration of my recovery anniversary began, and this year is a big one…. Twenty-five years.
For those new to my blog, please take a moment to read the best post I’ve ever written… It recounts why I sobered up.
I’ll be pinning that post to my homepage for the remainder of the month.
