Sunday Funday on a TNIL… on the TANDEM?!
I’m going to put it as simply as I can; my wife and I found each other again, after several years. It’s better than that,…

Why An Expensive Road Bike is Worth the Outlandish Money… Even If “Expensive” Isn’t a Prerequisite for Being Fast
After riding the tandem with my wife for the last few weeks, I finally threw a leg over my Specialized Venge Wednesday night. The weather…

A Wonderful Day Off the Bikes…
It’s a rare Saturday after May 1st that we’re off the bikes but yesterday’s weather was intermittent junk. On again, off again rain, clouds, a…
Thanks Jim. interestingly enough I have become increasingly intolerant to caffeine. Since I got sober actually, which is a good few years now. It started off when after a session with my sponsor in the early days she commented that I was really giddy after drinking a cup with her and now I physically can’t take it, makes me sick. I’m not sure if it’s the caffeine, can’t bring myself to drink decaf though! Just wondering if you or anyone else noticed anything like that once they got sober. Actually now that I think of it it made me feel sick during pregnancy as well…yikes!😀
This isn’t surprising. I had to horse myself into liking coffee when I sobered up. At first, I’d bounce off the walls after the second cup. I developed a tolerance for it over the years, though, to a point where now I can drink a cup ten minutes before I fall asleep and be just fine. I had to work at that, though. It didn’t come “free”.
Your sensitivity makes sense because that’s what happens to us when we quit flooding ourselves with booze – every little high has a huge effect. The buzz from caffeine simply tickles your fancy so you find yourself easily stirred once you add some to your system. It makes perfect sense.
My wife went through a lot of weird sensitivities during her pregnancies too. I can tell you, I’m not envious of that!
I’m always a bit wary of comments like,”research shows” without the author referencing it but the 4 reasons will do for me once I find the evidence. I certainly notice the difference when I stop for a coffee on my way to work. Fresh black coffee has been the only way for years
I agree with your assessment. I wasn’t lost on the lack of references but I’ve researched coffee enough to know that most of the provided info was solid and the post was written by a noob, so I thought I’d link it so the author would get some extra traffic.
Big fan of caffeine! I use tabs, 200mg. Drop one in my sports drink bottle on longer rides.
I usually drink 3 cups a day. Been doing that for 35+ years. No problems I know of.
That’s a good idea!
