There are reports emerging, in which people are claiming that the quip, “okay Boomer” is ageist.
Actually, the quip isn’t ageist. It’s funny as hell, and that’s the “why” behind the contortions to make this a slur against age. It’s not.
The claim that something is ageist, sexist, racist, or any other “ist” there is, when that something clearly is not, is the last, desperate argument of a scoundrel.
Got that, Boomer?
Good Gravy! Who are these people that go around making an issue of verbiage? It is absolutely ridiculous! I’m a BOOMER! Proud of it!!!
I know… and I’m not too far behind!
Got that…
Love, light and glitter
I guess it’s derogatory if a younger person uses that way towards an older person. Like any word, it’s how it’s used.
It still seems like much ado about nothing.
Derogatory, absolutely. Funny? Without question. “Ageist”? Boomer, please. LOL! I agree with your assessment.
OmniRunner has it pretty much sussed. The only caveat I would add is that I have been taking every available opportunity to embarrass my kids over the years, and if that’s their payback, then I’ll take it. A very small price to pay for what I believe to be perhaps the world’s greatest collection of Dad Jokes That Never Quite Made It. Hashtagsmileyface, or whatever it is those crazy kids do these days…
LOL!
