Solving the Problems of the World One Bike Ride at a Time

Anyone who cycles will be able to tell you they’ve solved one or more of the world’s major problems over a bike ride, during a coffee stop, or during the meal afterwards. Runners are equally adept at this…

So this has to make one wonder, if it’s so easy for us to figure this stuff out (and it clearly is), maybe the politicians just don’t want to.

Either that or we need to petition them to pass a law requiring all politicians and staffers to buy bicycles and ride together twice a week. Think of the carbon offsets alone.

Just a thought.

Thanks for the inspiration, Lee & Vickie.

    And it’s a great thought!

    Carbon frames, carbon credits!

I like this idea. Maybe it should be made mandatory with the job that everyone must go for a run/bike ride at least 4 times a week.

Ironically, our Prime Minister is in trouble today because he went on a bike ride seven miles from Downing Street during lockdown, although it wasn’t actually against the rules. Really agree with the idea – was it Haile Gebrselassie, the former runner, who said that we’re more creative after a run? And we could really do with some more inspired leaders right now…

So what you are really saying is politicians are making a mountain out of nothing, and the Prime Minister really isn’t in trouble. I do love politicians. Also, not only are we more creative, we are happier.

      • Mr Shit50s says:

Yeah – I think politicians need to think a bit harder about what makes people happier. If they get some good ideas about making that happen when they’re on a bike, so much the better!

Enrique Penalosa, Bogota’s former mayor. A case study. 😊
