A Key to a Happy Recovery is Working with Others

For the last decade a lot of my “working with others” centered around this blog and it worked for me. If you hadn’t noticed, I like writing, more than a little bit. In the last couple of weeks I’ve picked up a two sponsees and I’m quite stoked about rolling up my sleeves and getting my hands dirty with a new adventure.

Both guys have meaningful sobriety under their belt, so the process is going to be more a focus on how to use the program on a daily basis to build the happiest life possible.

This is right up my alley.

I am a by-the-book guy (actually, I’m a buy the book, then by-the-book guy), but I’m really into what we do once we’ve been through the steps thoroughly, have a solid foundation, been on the pink cloud and floated back to earth, but now find things lacking. I have experience in this.

Acceptance, as big a pain in the ass it may be, is the key.

And so began a new phase of my recovery. I’m excited to see where this goes… and better, to see how I’ll grow for the experience.

One thing is for certain in recovery: He or She who sits on their ass and waits for God to drop the goods in their lap will likely find life a little sad and empty.

I’m far happier when I look for how and where I can be useful. Just sayin’.

Recover hard, my friends. You just might not make it back, otherwise.
