Bring Out the Gravel Bikes! It’s Getting Into Summer In Tasmania… And That’s All Bad for Cycling in Michigan.
Tasmania isn’t “technically” the other side of the world from we in Michigan, USA. Judging by their weather, they’re more like across from Florida. People in Florida freak out when the temp drops to the upper 40s and 50s. In Michigan, that’s October. We spend half of November below freezing – most of December. All of January and February under a blanket of snow. Clouds blanket our State for months.
And the gravel bikes come out. The leaves have begun their yearly display of color…
We’re almost there… just a few really nice days left, then it’s jackets all the time. We’re under a frost advisory tomorrow morning.
It’s been a wonderful season, though. I’m ready for the snow to fly. I’ll welcome it. Well, for a few weeks, anyway. Then it’ll get old. About the time February rolls around Jess and I should be experiencing a new bike day. I’m excited for that. I believe the road wheels are already in at the shop (I’ve seen the box). I’m looking forward to putting a lot of miles on that bike next season.
In the meantime, it’ll be time for gravel grinders tomorrow.
