Actually, I wrote this post before my nap so the title may not be perfectly clear… it’s not like, all of a sudden, I’m super-fast and can keep up with Cat 3 cyclists… No, I chased that dragon long enough and decided I’m in it for the fun. Fast fun, faster than average by a lot, but not that fast. The hammers took it easy on us for once and we had a great time. With that…
45 miles of awesome, perfectly paced, enjoyable, fun cycling.
Cool to start, mid-40’s, but abundant sunshine had us shedding layers at the only stop at 25-ish miles… We even picked up a few of the guys who hammer us on Tuesday night around mile 15 miles in, but they kept it light and fun today. Absolute cycling perfection. Good miles, good friends and plenty of laughs. Truly, good times.
That wasn’t enough though… We wanted to get my daughter in on the good times:
52 miles on a perfect Sunday.
Another perfect Sunday on the bike.
Very motivating, I am getting ready to head out for a ride now. I’ve been using an app called Fitness Buddy (http://www.weretiredearly.com/Blog/2015/09/19/app-review-fitness-buddy/), have you used it?
Thank you. I haven’t used Fitness Buddy… I use Endomondo, but only to track my mileage for the day/week/month/year totals. I did get into the tracking a lot more, a few years ago but I’m to a point where cycling is so much a part of my life, the tracking software is just added work – I’m riding with or without it. As for gym workouts, well… As soon as I can ride my bike and lift weights at the same time, I’ll look into it. Chuckle.
For tracking my rides, I really like Road Bike by Runtastic (http://www.weretiredearly.com/Blog/2015/08/27/app-review-road-bike-by-runtastic/). I’ve been using it for years. I will have to look into Endomondo as well.
I started out with Endo four years ago because it was one of a few that were free and stuck with it, only because it has every mile I’ve ever ridden on it… Now I don’t even track many rides, I just input them from my stem mounted el cheapo cycling computer (speed, distance, average speed and max speed only)… Got to a point where I just wanted to ride without all of the electronics. Others love the trackers (I was there for a while myself)… Enjoy it, brother, and thanks for commenting.
I love that your daughter came with you. I hate the cold and how we need extra layers and sleeves to ride comfortably now. I went out for a ride tonight without them and I was freezing the whole ride. On another note, my first Century was Saturday. It was awesome. I did great!!! Thanks for all your advice, it helped!
Awesome job Tracey! That first century is some kind of special, I’m glad that you enjoyed yours.
As for the cold, I hear you. Now that I have the clothing and layers figured out, I don’t mind it as much, but I hear you… I spend the whole fall and spring longing for the day I can ride in shorts and a jersey.
